Like other industry credentialing programs; recertification audits, are necessary to validate and to uphold the professional value of the LPC credential. It is vital that certificants collect and maintain careful records in case they are selected for audit.
The continuing education audits are held 3 times a year under the direction of Wayne McBrian, LPCR, Recertification Audit Chair. As former OVP of LP at Brookstone for over 20 years, Wayne sets the direction and the tone of the audit as well as presents the findings to the LPF board.
If selected for audit, a certificant will receive selection notice within three months after their CEU Submittal. The audit CEU submissions within the last 5 months. Certificants will be required to send in necessary, retained CEU evidence to the LPF as soon as possible. The LPF will then match the received proof against the recorded CEU submissions.
It is in the candidate’s best interest to respond as quickly as possible to all of the LPF’s requests, so that questions can be resolved before the three month time limit expires.
It is also in the candidate’s best interest to keep copies all their CEU submission forms (CEU Accomplishment Submittal Form and the CEU Qualification Evaluation Form) in case there is a discrepancy.
