CEUs | Audit Proof Suggestions

The LPF periodically audits a randomly selected percentage of certificants’ prior year of submitted CEU activity. It is important that a certificant collects and retains all unique identifying proof activity should they be selected for audit.

Retained Validation items must:

  1. describe the event or activity.
  2. tie you to the educational event or activity.
  3. demonstrate your attendance or successful completion of the event or activity*

Below are suggestions to help you collect and retain the necessary items.

*Additional Notes:

  • In many cases, you will want to keep more than one proof item for an activity.  For example, both a name tag and an agenda are needed for a conference. The name tag will show that you were physically there and the agenda will show the hours and times of the formal presentation attended. If you do not have the above suggested items, look for alternatives; the more the better. Some examples are email confirmations, calendar notices, receipts, handouts, other attendees/witnesses, hotel receipts, personal notes on conference or hotel letter head, etc. If you cannot send a copy of an item as it is proprietary, send a portion, have it watermarked, etc.
  • LPF CEU bearing activities do not require validation. However, correspondence and other items are helpful and they speed up the audit process.
