Skills can be learned rather quickly, but there are many character traits that are necessary and take time to cultivate." explained Getz.

Without proper education and knowledge, service members transitioning into civilian life are left to figure out the details on their own. Even the most resourceful have to overcome these challenges to gain leadership footholds within their new work place. The LPF has developed a partnership strategy to equip our national heroes with a toolset that helps our honored vets join an organization with a firm grasp on the subjects most LP know are essential to succeed.

Retailers: The LPF has an open invitation to any retailer wishing to join us in targeting veterans for jobs within loss prevention. So far, LPQ is a preferred requirement for all new LP hires, with 70 national retailers participating. If a vet is LPQ certified, they will greatly increase their chances for an interview and be a top tier candidate for final consideration. Armed Services Transition Committee: This committee is breaking ground on obtaining LPQ course approval as a military transition course. The LPQ credential opens doors for our vets on several levels. Today's retail job market is increasingly competitive.

The Loss Prevention Foundation's Armed Services Transition Committee, including Kevin Lynch, LPC ADT, Brand Elverston, Walmart, Scott McBride, American Eagle and Gene Smith, LPC, President of LPF, recently met in Washington D.C. with various high ranking military leaders to discuss how retail loss prevention could be more active in helping veterans transition to retail loss prevention jobs.  As a result of this meeting, the LPF is aggressively moving forward with a comprehensive plan that will help to attract more qualified enlisted military and veteran candidates into retail loss prevention.
